6064 cases registered & 275K L of illicit liquor recovered in March
PRAYAGRAJ, April 6 (HS): Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary informed that the Excise Department is continuously conducting raids to prevent the manufacture, sale and smuggling of illcit liquor in the State.
In the previous month, 6064 cases have been registered by the department, in which 2,75,997 litres of illicit liquor has been recovered and 9,11,413 kg lahan destroyed at the spot. Along with it, 2528 persons involved in the illegal act have been arrested and 118 vehicles have also been seized.
The Addl. Chief Secretary has informed that in the month of March 2021, on finding guilty in negligence and laxity in their duties, 03 Assistant Excise Commissioners, 12 Excise Inspectors, 05 Head Excise constables and 05 Excise constables have been suspended with immediate effect and departmental proceedings have been instituted against them.
It has also been told that in view of the Panchayat elections, the field officers have been instructed to constantly monitor suspected storage of of illicit liquor as well as excise shops and strict action will be taken against those involved in manufacture, sale and smuggling of illicit liquor and they will not be spared in any case.
