25 people died due to tornado in South America
Los Angeles, Mar 04 (HS): In the US southern state of Tennessee, a severe thunderstorm has caused the loss of life and property. As many as 25 persons have died due to this, while many people are reportedly missing. An emergency has been imposed in Tennessee. More damage from this tornado has occurred in Nashville County. The National Guard is stationed in Putnam County. This tornado had demolished 15 out of 169 polling stations of Super Tuesday polling. The tornado struck at the speed of 75 mph.
As soon as the tornado came in the morning, the roofs of hundreds of houses were uprooted and people started coming out of the houses. By nine in the morning, the authority had reported nine deaths. But by evening, the number of dead reached 25.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said that more number of deaths and injuries were likely due to tornado. The missing people are being traced by the police and the fire brigade teams. Around 48 buildings have collapsed so far, while nearly 50,000 persons have suffered due to a power failure.
