15 more COVID-19 positive patients found in Bengal in one day
Kolkata,14 April(HS): Even as there is no report of any further death from 7 so far, as many as 15 people tested positive of COVID-19 in West Bengal during the last 24 hours taking the total number of those affected to 110 till now today.
All those new Coronavirus patients were immediately sent to isolation wards of different hospitals for proper treatment as per the WHO guidelines.
Informing this a Medical bulletin issued by the state Health Department said here today that this was one of the highest jumps in the number of those affected by Coronavirus on a single day in the state so far.
Till yesterday morning the total number of those tested positive in different testing centres and hospitals was 95, which had gone up to 110 today following reports of 15 other positive cases, the bulletin said.
Though there was no mention about the number of tests conducted so far in West Bengal, according to informed sources about 2,300 tests had so far been conducted in different testing centres until last night.
Replying to queries about the reason for not conducting more tests on war footing when about 40,000 test kits were reportedly lying idle in different centres, the sources refused to comment.
However, they said about 2100 people had so far been admitted to different hospitals on suspicion that they were affected by Corona Virus. Of the nearly 1800 were later released after their tests were found negative.
Meanwhile, the state government in its latest directive has made it absolutely mandatory for all to wear a face mask, be it homemade or clinical if they wanted to venture out of their house even for emergency purposes.
If anyone is found not wearing the mask, strong action would be taken against him or her to prevent further spread of the killer disease, the directive said.
