15 killed in Stadium stampede

Antananarivo (Madagascar), June. 27 (HS): On the occasion of 59th anniversary of Independence Day, 15 people were killed and another 80 were injured due to a stampede at the concert at the capital of Antananarivo, Madagascar.

General Richard Ravalomanana, in charge of the National Gendarmerie (Police forces of France ) said ,“The show was about to start and people heard that they could enter the stadium but the police had left the doors closed. People tried to force the doors but in vain. The crowd started pushing the door. People fell and at least 15 have died.

Olive Rakotto Elson, director of Joseph Ravoahangi Adriana Hospital, told that the number of dead might increase as the condition of the injured persons is serious.
