1470 cases registered & 1, 21, 309 litres of illicit liquor seized by Excise Dept
PRAYAGRAJ, April 12 (HS): Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary has told that in view of the Panchayat elections in the state, preventive action is being carried out continuously by the department to curb the manufacture, sale and smuggling of illicit liquor. In the last ten days 1470 cases were registered all over the state in which 1,21,309 litres of illicit liquor were recovered and 2,16,665 kg lahan used for preparing illicit liquor was destroyed at the spot. Along with it, 680 persons were arrested and 66 vehicles were seized.
It has also been informed by the Additional Chief Secretary that during the previous 10 days of April, an illegal liquor factory has been unearthed at village Milak Khempur in district Moradabad. 1675 quarters of illicit liquor, alcoholometer, packaging machine and large quantity of fake lids, Q.R. codes, labels and other materials have been recovered and a case has been registered against 04 persons indulged in this crime. During the road checking in Gautam BudhNagar district, 504 bottles of illicit foreign liquor have been seized and 02 persons have been arrested along with 02 vehicles. At Bidauli checkpost in Shamli district 180 bottles of illicit foreign liquor have been recovered from a swift car and an FIR has been lodged against 03 persons. In district Pratapgarh 224 cases of beer, 600 cases of foreign liquor and 65 cases of country liquor have been recovered from Babuganj market. During road checking in Baghpat district, 37 cases of illicit liquor for sale in Arunachal Pradesh have been recovered from a car. During the checking on the national highway in Rampur district, 1000 cases of country liquor have been recovered from a canter and 03 persons have been arrested. In Azamgarh district 124 quarters along with 06 litres of adulterated liquor, fake QR codes, other equipments and materials for illegally preparing liquor have been recovered from a country liquor shop. In this action an FIR has been lodged against the licensee and 02 salesmen in the police station concerned.The case have been registered against 06 persons including with licensee and the country liquor shop has been suspended.
Additional Chief Secretary has told that in view of Panchayat elections, the enforcement action against the manufacture and sale of illicit liquor will continue uninterruptedly and the people involved in these illegal works will not be spared under any circumstances.
