Petition in SC seeking NIA probe countrywide attacks on processions
New Delhi, April 18 (H.S.)| Sensing a interconnection in the countrywide attacks on Hindu processions, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking NIA to takeover the investigations of the communal attacks on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti, processions, including Jahangirpuri in Delhi.
Petition by Vineet Jindal said that on the occasion of Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti, processions were taken out at many places across the country in which incidents of stone pelting took place. Many people were injured in these incidents and there was a lot of damage to properties. These stone pelting attacks could not be a mere coincidence and could be a possibility of conspiracy, hence, these incidents should be investigated by NIA, the petition said.
On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, the attacks were carried out during the procession being taken out in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. Apart from this, sporadic incidents of violence also occurred in Madhya Pradesh and other parts of the country. Ram Navami processions were also attacked across the country.
