Over 40 doctors of KGMU Lucknow tested positive for COVID-19
Lucknow, 07 April (HS) :Over 40 doctors including Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Bipin Puri and the Medical Superintedent Dr Himanshu of the King George Medical University (KGMU) of Lucknow have been tested positive for COVID-19. According to an official of the medical university most of the doctors have been tested positive despite taking both the doses of the CORONA vaccine.
The official said that the infected doctors include 20 from General Surgery Department, nine from Urology Department and three doctors of the Medicine Department.
The Registrar of the KGMU Ashutosh Dwivedi is however safe but his family members including wife, daughter and mother-in-law were tested positive, Mr Dwivedi himself confirmed.
He said that the tests of other doctors and the staff of the KGMU are also being conducted after they complained of influenza like symptoms.
It may be mentioned here that the state capital has emerged as a COVID-19 hotspot in its second wave. The state organising general secretary of BJP Sunil Bansal, state minister of UP government Ravindra Jaiswal and special secretary of the government, Sanjai Singh were also tested positive. As many as 6023 new cases were reported in UP on Wednesday in the past 24 hours.
In view of the rising cases of CORONA the Allahabad High Court has asked the government to consider night curfew and vaccination of all the people of the state.
