JP Nadda pays tribute to freedom fighter Mangal Pandey on his birth anniversary
New Delhi, July 19 (HS) BJP President JP Nadda paid tribute to freedom fighter Mangal Pandey on his birth anniversary on Sunday.
Nadda tweeted, “Salute to the great revolutionary Mangal Pandey Ji, the heroic son of Maa Bharati, on his birth anniversary. He started the revolution of 1857 against British rule. The stories of your struggle against subjugation in the country will continue to guide the generations to come.”
It is noteworthy that the great revolutionary Mangal Pandey was born on July 19, 1827 in Nagwa village of Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name was Diwakar Pandey and mother’s name was Abhairani Rani. The soldiers of 1857 were the leaders of the rebellion. The leadership in Meerut, led by him, refused to operate cartridges containing cow fat, which then turned into a revolution against British Rule.
