Army provides sports kits in Poonch
Jammu, February 23 (HS): With the aim to promote sports curricular activities among school children at primary class level, India Army provided Sports kit to Government Higher Secondary School, Nakka Majahari, district Poonch under Sadbhavana. The school located in close vicinity of Line of Control and imparting education approximately 120 Students of nearby villages, mostly belonging to BPL categories.
During the routine interaction between villagers, teachers of school and local Army unit representative, the villagers requested Army’s assistance to improve sports infrastructure in the school. In continuation with the initiatives by Army to engage local populace specially school children, the sports kit which includes Volley Balls, Foot Balls, Cricket kit, Hockey kit, Badminton kit and other kits were provided to the school.
The event was organised with an aim to uplift the physical standards of the school children and to inculcate the habit of playing games and to participate in sports activities, thus giving them the opportunity to children to generate inclination towards physical fitness, also channelize their energy towards positive actions. A Cricket and Badminton match between the students was also organised which was actively participated by students.
The event was recognized by the school children and teachers, they appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army as facilitator and catalyst for various development projects in the region. A total of 75 students and 09 teachers attended the event.
