Best wishes to all the countrymen on the holy festival of #Vijayadashami, symbolizing the victory of good over evil and truth over falsehood. This festival is not only a festival but also a valuable message, which has been showing for centuries that truth always triumphs over evil and untruth.

According to the #HinduPanchag, it is celebrated every year on the Dashami tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. Religious belief is that on this day Lord Ram had killed Ravana and Maa Durga had killed Mahishasura, hence this date is celebrated as Vijayadashami. The holy festival of Shardiya Navratri ends on Dashami Tithi. This day is known as Durga Visarjan and Vijayadashami. On this day, the festival of Ravana Dahan i.e. Dussehra is also celebrated. According to the mythology, when the demon named Mahishasura created havoc everywhere from earth to heaven with his atrocities, Maa Durga fought with Mahishasura and his army for 9 days and killed him on Dashami Tithi. This victory of Maa Durga was named Vijayadashami. According to the mythological story of Dussehra, Lord Shri Ram had killed Ravana on this day. After worshiping Goddess Durga for 9 days, Lord Shri Ram killed Ravana on Dashami Tithi and thus good won over evil. That is why Ramlila is also organized for nine days of Navratri and on the tenth day the effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna are burnt and hence it is known as Dussehra.

The holy festival of Dussehra is a festival which inspires us to follow the right path of religion and also gives many social and moral messages. This festival teaches us that no matter how powerful evil is, in the end truth and religion prevail. The end of Ravana is a mythological example that the end of unrighteousness and ego is certain. The life story of Lord Rama teaches us the importance of patience, compassion, sacrifice and devotion to duty. Dussehra also gives us the message of giving up bad habits and adopting virtues. It teaches every human being to eliminate the Ravana inside him, i.e. anger, pride, greed, jealousy.

On this auspicious occasion, let us all take a pledge to follow the path of justice and truth shown by Lord Shri Ram and increase mutual brotherhood in the society. I wish that Lord Shri Ram fulfills all your wishes by showering happiness, peace and prosperity in the lives of all your devotees.
