Kolkata,30 March(HS): In order to jack up their all-out efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the Orthopaedic Hospital of Eastern Railway in Howrah Division here has decided to engage several Medical Practitioners and Para Medical Staff in their hospital ‘on the contractual basis’.

Informing this Eastern Railway sources told Hindusthan Samachar here today that in view of the scarcity and non-availability of enough medical practitioners and paramedical staff having ‘requisite qualification’, they had decided to ask the services of these COVID-19 frontline warriors to join them in fighting the deadly diseases in a unified and more sustained manner.
Accordingly these qualified people – both retired and fresh – are requested to report with their certificates for a ‘Walk in Interview’ to the Office of the Chief Medical Superintendent, Orthopaedic Hospital, Eastern Railway, Howrah by tomorrow, the sources said.
‘Immediately we need at least 10 each Medical practitioners and nurses along with 6 OT Assistants, 4 pharmacists and at least 14 Hospital Housekeeping assistants’, the sources said adding that though they would be appointed purely on contractual basis for one month, their term could be extended on the basis of requirement.
As per their remunerations, the sources informed that while the Super Specialists would be paid Rs 1.5 lakh for the month, the Specialist doctors would get Rs 95,000 each and the General Practitioners Rs  75,000 each.
Remunerations for Para Medical staff would be the same as those regular Railway Para Medical staff, they said and claimed that this was perhaps the first such initiative in the whole country to effectively deal with the current pandemic situation.
