Bomb scare in Mangaluru Airport.
Bengaluru, January 20 (HS): A panic situation arouse at the Bajpe airport on the outskirts of Mangaluru this morning after a bag was found with around 10 kgs explosive material. While the efforts are on to diffuse it, the police sources said that the explosive was kept in a laptop bag.
The surrounding areas of the Bajpe airport have been cordoned off with heavy security arrangements and personnel belonging to the dog squad, bomb diffusing squad. The security forces rushed to the spot along with the explosives diffusing vehicle immediately after getting the information. According to preliminary reports, two people who came in an autorickshaw placed the suspected explosive material containing bag in the VIP pathway and disappeared from the spot.
The Central Industrial Security Force(CISF) staff on noticing the unclaimed and unattended baggage shifted it to a nearby place near the airport and efforts are on to diffuse the same. So far there have been no claims by any organizations or groups on the responsibility of placing the suspected material on the premises of the airport.
