Delhi-NCR breathes easier, but air quality stays severe with 410 AQI
On Monday morning, parts of Delhi-NCR received some relief as light rain fell across the region. However, the rain did little to improve the air quality, which remained in the ‘severe’ category with an AQI reading of 410.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast cloudy skies and light rain, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 8°C. While the weather provided temporary relief, the rain was not enough to alleviate the hazardous pollution levels in Delhi.
This comes after several days of poor air quality, which has raised serious health concerns for residents. Despite the rain, pollution levels remained dangerously high, continuing to pose a risk to public health. Experts stress that while short-term measures like rain may help momentarily, long-term solutions are essential to combat the ongoing air quality crisis.
The government and authorities are under increasing pressure to implement more effective strategies to reduce pollution and protect the health of millions in Delhi-NCR.
