By-election begins: voting on 31 assembly seats across 10 states and Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala
Along with the Jharkhand assembly elections, by-elections are taking place across 10 states in India. Voting began this morning for 31 assembly seats and the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala.
The by-elections cover six states: West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, Gujarat’s Vav assembly seat, Chhattisgarh’s Raipur City South, and Madhya Pradesh’s Budhni and Vijaypur seats are up for grabs. Of these, four are reserved for the Dalit community, six for the tribal community, and 21 for the general category.
In Kerala, the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat became vacant after Rahul Gandhi’s resignation. Congress has fielded Priyanka Gandhi, marking her debut in elections.
These by-elections are crucial, as the results will impact political dynamics in several key states.
