India Slams Canadian PM’s Testimony at Inquiry Commission

India strongly rebuked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s testimony at the Commission of Inquiry, stating it provided no evidence to support Canada’s serious allegations against India and its diplomats. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, said Trudeau alone is responsible for the damage done to India-Canada relations. He emphasized that Canada’s baseless accusations have strained ties without any factual basis.

A few days ago, India summoned the Canadian Charge d’Affaires, making it clear that targeting Indian diplomats and officials in Canada is unacceptable. The Indian government expressed deep concerns over the safety of its representatives, especially amid rising extremism and violence in Canada.

In response, India has withdrawn its High Commissioner and other diplomats from Canada, citing the Trudeau government’s failure to ensure their security. India’s distrust of Canada’s ability to protect its diplomats led to this decisive action. The Indian government also warned that it reserves the right to take further measures if Canada continues to support extremism and separatist activities targeting India.

This sharp exchange highlights the growing tension between the two nations, with India accusing Canada of allowing anti-India activities to flourish on its soil. Despite repeated warnings, the situation remains unresolved, further straining diplomatic ties.
