Nagpur, 15 October (H.S): The society will have to be awakened to combat the divisive forces active in and from across the nation. The original Hindu culture and values, which is all inclusive will have to be inculcated again. The conscience of the people will have to be touched to eliminate caste and religion based divide, which can be achieved by meeting personally and remove the fear against each other.

This was stated by Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, while speaking during Vijayadashami celebrations, at Dr K B Hadgewar memorial, Reshimbag, here on Friday. The programme was physically attended by a selected volunteers and by others in 48 places on-line.

Dr Bhagwat spoke extensively about Hindu culture by quoting several examples from history. Efforts are being done by RSS volunteers to unite the people and develop feeling of patriotism. This includes Jammu and Kashmir, where people are reaping benefits of removal of Article 370. The efforts to terrorise from across the border will have to be controlled.

Quoting from a report following 2011 census, he said that policy on population control must be reviewed to eliminate imbalance in its distribution. The new methods of population control should be applicable to all uniformly.

Referring to growing drug trafficking and addiction in the country, Dr Bhagwat said that effective control over it should be exercised. The young generation should understand history of the nation, its culture and values. The family members also have a major responsibility to inculcate these values by correcting their own behaviour. The divisive forces using such methods to divert attention of the young generation must be controlled.

The Government is an arrangement to run the system. But the major responsibility of proper conduct of the society lies in its members. RSS has been training its volunteers to work in this direction. The work of RSS is in progress in all the regions of India.

?We got independence, but has failed to understand the true spirit behind it and could not become self-reliant in its true sense. The political interests, divisive forces, caste and religion based division worked more powerfully compared to the sense of belongingness and national spirit?, he said. He appealed to the Hindus to strengthen themselves and spread the message of all inclusiveness, irrespective of religion or caste.

The Corona pandemic made all health conscious. Ayurved or other traditional health sciences of India must be adopted and made available in all the villages. RSS volunteers are ready to meet the challenge, if posed by the possible third wave.

Our culture is of thinking of welfare of all. The method of performing religious rituals may be different. Hindu culture, which is philosophical and has spiritual base respects all and plead welfare of all. The message should be understood and disseminated by the young generation. He quoted examples from Guru Teg Bahadur Singh, Sant Dnyaneshwar, Ravindranath Tagore, Swatantryaveer Savarkar and others to explain the philosophy of unity and welfare of all, to support his speech.

Besides protecting our own culture and values, threats from neighbours cannot be overlooked, which include Pakistan, China and now Taliban.

With independence on August 14, 1947, the pain of partition cannot be forgotten. The reasons for the partition are well known. Similar efforts to divide the Indian society from across the borders. Unless the people of the nation remain united these activities cannot be controlled, he said.

At the outset Dr Bhagwat and other functionaries performed Shastrapuja. This was followed by demonstrations of drill and performance of Ghosh Pathak (band).
