ICG carries out special community interaction program
Tamil Nadu: Chennai, March 13 (HS) Indian Coast Guard (ICG) carried out special community interaction program at 20 villages in Tamil Nadu. These villages are located along the coast. On the occasion of ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ ICG organising several programme.
The program launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi falls exactly 75 weeks from the 75th Independence Day on 15 August 2022.
Interaction program was conducted in villages across Tamil Nadu with Fisheries officers and Marine Police. Special interaction was held even in villages of Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. During the interactions, Coast Guard officers underlined the role of fishermen as ‘Eyes and Ears’ in the domain of coastal security and the importance of being a good and responsible citizen.
Additionally, there were training sessions on the issues related to safety of life at sea, carrying basic life-saving equipment and biometric ID cards to the fishermen in an interactive manner. In the interactions, the significance of 75 years of independence was also mentioned. ICG’s commitment to safety and security of fishermen at sea while commemorating ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.’
ICG also plans to conduct various activities like marathon / cyclothon / motorcycle rally / medical camps and extended CIPs in the forthcoming months as part of Government of India’s celebration of 75 years of Independence.
